FINAL GAME COMPLETE
This last week was a tough week in terms of time allotted. We have been working hard day in and day out, and finally it has paid off in our completed version of Alien Invasion: Champion of Earth. Scott and I came up with the second part of the name yesterday. This week was filled with all of the finishing touches on reference cards, resource cards, character cards, and the game board. Aleks was in charge of designing everything using photoshop once again. Scott cut out all of the cards, and Ahmed put the cards in the sleeves. Lastly Scott and I wrote the rulebook yesterday, and the game is finally complete. It has been a long ride, but totally worth it, I am happy with our game and I genuinely have fun playing it.

The pieces are all coming together
Today was an important day for our game because all the flaws became noticeable and we had to think about solutions. We had to come up with a specific set of rules that our classmates would be able to follow during the next class period. We had previously decided to make 3 regions per continent but we were not too sure of how the alien species would be able to take the regions over. The decision we made was that each region would be taken over by a set amount of native resources to the region and 2 random resources. We also decided that each region that the player has control over allows the player to draw 1 native resource to the region each turn. The other difficulty we came across was on deciding how players would battle each other for regions. Our group came into many disagreements at first but decided on an overall strategy. The players battling for regions would compete in a battle of resources and the player with the highest number of points would win the battle. We decided that if the attacking player wins, the region would be annihilated and would not be used again. This allows for a closer interaction with the players since the size of the playable map gets smaller and smaller. After deciding on a set of rules for the game we decided to split up the work for creating the game prototype. I was to design the cards and send them out to everyone in order for them to print and cut everything.

Building Mechanics
Today in class after establishing a cover for our board game brought in class by Aleks we started working on what cards would look like and the tpe of Alien civilizations we would use for our game. After collaborating for a while we reached a conclusion and each delegating a certain number of cards we would create for next weeks Alpha testing of our game. I was delegating to create the Alien civilization Narnians from Neptune and their main resource for the game which is ice. Each group member also was to create the cards for the other alien civilization and resource cards. We Also discussed some modifations to the board game map, where we decided to color code each region based on either its civilization or if it was completely destroyed. We also came up with the begining of the game mechanics where each player after choosing an alien civilization is given three resources of there respective native region. Nearing the end of the class with some of our professors help we added an end game mechainic to help run the game more smoothly and quikly. That mechanic is when a certain percentage of the world is destroyed from the alien invasion,the game automaticaly ends and the player with the most regions wins the game.

Foundations of Alien Invasion : Blog 2
Our group is creating a board game called Alien Invasion. The first real meeting that my group and I had was productive because we were able to brainstorm and create a foundation and layout for the physicality of our game. We concluded that the board will be a map of the entire world and that there will be at least four different alien races that are attacking. These races will be the player roles and each player is randomly assigned an alien race which corresponds to a specific region on the board where you will start. Obviously we are still developing functional mechanics to the game but we have decided that there will be resource cards that are crucial to the game play. Each player starts out with three resource cards and is granted an additional card every turn. The different continents will be divided into 3-4 regions and in order to control a continent you must first destroy and conquer the regions. To make the game exciting and somewhat realistic there will be human uprisings. The humans will try and take back what was theirs by starting war, each player must be able to fend off the humans with their resource cards in order to continue playing. We have brainstormed a few different potential resource cards; water, carbon, uranium, human slaves, oxygen, plutonium, and of course cows. Instead of the standard wood, water, and rock resources we felt that it was necessary to stick to our theme and add some galactic flair to our game design. Sorry humans the world is at a loss and is being completely depleted of its resources, it is now controlled by us aliens and there is no escape.

First week in a new group
This week, for the second time this semester, my game proposal was picked yet again to my surprise. Due to how well the first project went in my group, I am extremely excited to get going on this one. Our game is called Alien Invasion, and it is based on the premise of a multi-species alien takeover. Once again my game is a violent one, based on ridiculous events that one would hope never to truly happen, but in theory is very cool and entertaining. This week we are just brainstorming as individuals and as a group in order to figure out the core mechanics of the game, considering my guidelines were very vague. I cannot wait to meet up and start making this hilariously explicit game, with a few guys who I'm excited to get to know.
